Vegetarian Lou Sang…

One of unique dish during Chinese New Year is the “Lou Sang”. It’s a symbol of increase of abundance, prosperity and vigor.

The ingredients are so simple, you just need to put in all types of raw vegetables with different color..

1. Shredded cucumber

2. Shredded Carrot

3. Shredded White radish

4. Pickled Papaya

5. Green mangoes

6. lettuce

7. Pomelo/ Pear

8. Roasted Peanuts/ Roasted macadamia nuts/ Roasted Walnut

9. Toasted Bread Crumbs/ Cracker

10. Sesame

11. Plum sauce and Olive oil

12. Lime

Normally, it serve as appetizers during lunch or dinner in any day of Chinese New Year. You can feel the positive ambience & energy, all diners in the same table will stand up and toss the shredded ingredients with chopstick while saying the auspicious wishes loudly, e.g…Good Health, Good wealth, prosperity, fortune….

It is believed that the height of the toss reflects the height of the diner’s growth in fortunes, thus diners are expected to toss enthusiastically.

You can try out a healthy vegetarian lou sang with all raw vegetables and less coloring as traditional. You can be creative too.
