Recently, my sister had food poisoning after dine out. It was severe, she was vomited and also having diarrhoea. This incident reminded me that how important to be a conscious chef as we might cause suffering in other’s life if we are not mindful in cooking. Worst scenario, we might causing death. How heavy responsibility as a chef!!!
As such, we must be mindful when handle food, from preparation, cooking and storage. I remembered one of the good sharing from my teacher, ” As a chef, we are actually taking care of other’s life.” We must be responsible whether we are preparing healthy or unhealthy food to others.
My friend shared with me that some of the chefs will never eat the food they cook as they are aware the food is going to bring harm in other’s life. However, they are working to earn money and forgetting that they are jeopardise other’s life. Always ask yourself, “Why are you cooking?” “Always cook the food you are going to enjoy and share with others.” Never lost your passion, cooking with love!
